At The WildSide, we know that having a pet in your life is about more than just making sure you feed and water it. It’s about more than bedding and toys, more than the right light or temperature. So, in addition to providing healthy pets and top quality natural foods and supplies, we also offer a range of other services in our store. The best part? Many of them are absolutely FREE!
Grooming
Walk in appointments are generally available for grooming services, but calling ahead is recommended.
Sun Conure
Birds: Wing/Nail clippings $8-25 depending on size of bird. (This is far less than most vet offices charge, and there’s no “office visit” fee!) Beak Over-Growth Consultation is available, though we generally do not recommend beak trimming.
Small/Exotic animals & Reptiles (Rabbits, hedgehogs, etc): Nail clippings Prices vary by size, generally $10- $20
Dog/Cat: Nail Trims $5 – $15
Gift Coordination – FREE
Basic Starter Kits make a great gift!
This service is especially popular for birthdays and holiday gifts. It allows a group of people to help buy a single gift for someone. Example: Young Emily has been wanting a small pet for a long time and her birthday is in 3 weeks. Her parents finally consent, but they can’t afford everything the new pet will need. Emily wants a hedgehog. Her parents can purchase the animal, Aunt Sue can buy the cage, Uncle Jack can pick up the food, and Grandma & Grandpa can pitch in for other accessories. Our expert staff will keep track of what items are needed and who has purchased what so that you don’t have to give it a second thought. Gift givers can come to the store whenever they like to make their purchases, and we’ll hold the animal (boarding fee may apply) until it’s time to give Emily her gift. Easy!
Tropical Terrarium

Need help arranging your lizard’s tank? Not sure what accessories will most resemble your critters’ natural environment? Want to build a waterfall in your terrarium? Many places charge huge fees to design and set up such things, but at The WildSide, it’s just part of what we do. We’re here because we want to help you create the best possible environment for your pets, so we’ll listen to your ideas and help you design the habitat that will work best for you, your critter, and your budget.
Aquarium Water Analysis – FREE!
Whether you have a problem in your aquarium that you can’t figure out, or everything’s fine and you want to make sure it stays that way, simply bring a small sample of your aquarium water into the store and we’ll test it at no charge. If there’s something wrong, we’ll talk with you about what it is, what might have caused it and discuss your options for solving the problem. This service is available for all water types including ponds!
Project: Class Room Pet – FREE!
This is a four-part program that allows children to interact with animals on a personal level, even if they are not permitted to have them at home. We are happy to offer these services free of charge as one of the ways we can contribute to the education and well being of the children in our community.
- Classroom Pet Discount: Because we understand the value of pets in children’s lives and the opportunity for growth and learning, we give a 10% standing discount to teachers who wish to have pets in their classroom. The discount is valid on pets that will be kept in the classroom as well as the supplies needed to care for them.
- Open Purchase Orders: We offer open purchase orders to make caring for classroom pets easier. Purchase orders enable schools and/or groups of teachers to pay for their items monthly/quarterly. This is especially helpful when a school budget has to be taken into consideration. Purchase orders can be prepaid or billed.
- Class/Group Tours &Lectures: Teachers are welcome to bring their students to our store for tours and lectures on animals they may be studying. Tours can easily be customized to suit the age of the children, and the points of interest of the teacher. We ask that there be a minimum of one adult for every three children third grade and under and one adult for every five children fourth grade and up. This service is available by appointment only.
- Classroom Visitors: Many Critters are available to be borrowed allowing teachers to have them in their classrooms as short-term visitors. This is especially nice for schools that do not allow full time pets in the classroom or when a specific type or group of animals are being studied. Some restrictions apply depending on the species of animal.
